New Holland Ambulance Association History
The New Holland Ambulance Association (NHAA) has been a steadfast provider of emergency medical services to New Holland, Pennsylvania, and surrounding areas for eighty years. NHAA originated from a community decision that an ambulance was a necessity for those living in the area. This call to service led to the formation of an organization that has become integral to the region’s emergency response efforts. Over the years, NHAA has not only grown in scope and capability but has also maintained a strong commitment to volunteerism, community support, and professional excellence.
Early members of NHAA were among the first in Lancaster County to complete EMT training, laying a foundation for high-quality emergency care in the area. The association has since expanded to include a mix of certified paid staff and volunteers who work around the clock to respond to medical emergencies and accidents. Their services are funded primarily through community donations and an annual subscription program, which supports essential operations and equipment upgrades.
NHAA is known for recognizing the dedication of its members, holding annual appreciation events where volunteers are awarded for milestones in service and outstanding contributions to public safety. This dedication is highlighted by numerous stories of lives saved through the quick and decisive actions of NHAA personnel, demonstrating their ongoing impact on the community.
In recent years, NHAA has explored strategic partnerships to strengthen its capabilities, including a merger with nearby Leola Ambulance. This merger aimed to create a more unified and resilient organization capable of offering even higher levels of care and service. In the spring of 2025 NHAA upgraded to an ALS certification, adding paramedic level care to the organization.
With a legacy built on commitment and community support, NHAA remains a pillar of emergency medical services, constantly adapting to meet the needs of New Holland and its residents.
